Key Stage 1

In Key Stage 1 the curriculum stimulates and encourages learning and great emphasis is placed on achieving a sound understanding of reading, writing and the four rules of numbers.

We listen to your child read individually 3 to 4 times a week.

Music, Drama, ICT, French and Sport are all taught by specialist staff.

New technology, in the form of interactive whiteboards, enhance delivery of the curriculum.

The House system encourages good discipline and work habits and commendations are awarded weekly.

We place great emphasis on the importance of regular communication between School and parents. More formal opportunities are provided at Parents Evenings, but we are committed to an 'open door' policy.

In Prep 2 the children are prepared to take KS1 SATS. The results of last year's pupils can be found here.

Children in Year 2 can take advantage of the wide range of peripatetic music teaching by arranging lessons during the school day. Details can be provided by Mrs S Clixby.

Infant classes are taken on visits within our local environment, in particular when this is related to their topic work. Recent visits have included:

  • Our Lady's Church
  • Local Walks
  • Chester Zoo
  • Under Water Street - Liverpool

Highlights of the year are Christmas and End of Year Plays, House Activities Day and Sports Day.
